Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada Partners with Horses4Heroes and Findlay Honda for Ranch Tour Stop

Girls who sign up for Girl Scouts at the event receive a free horse ride

LAS VEGAS, NV – September 15, 2016 – Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada is taking it to the ranch as Horses4Heroes and Findlay Honda co-host a tour stop on Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada’s Back-to-School and Harvest Festival Tour, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Horses4Heroes Community Equestrian Center, located within Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs. Prospective girls and their families will have the opportunity to ride a horse, visit farm animals, play with miniature horses, and take a hay ride, all for just $5.  The first 100 girls who sign up to be a Girl Scout will ride for free, thanks to a donation from Findlay Honda.

Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, a non-profit whose mission is to build courage, confidence and character in girls age 5 to 17, offers three types of troop options. Traditional troops, typically six to 25 girls per troop, are led by volunteers who organize their own meetings to explore Girl Scouts activities and opportunities to earn badges. Super Troops are cooperative troops that have 60 to 100 girls per troop. Super Troop meetings are led by Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada staff, with the support of volunteers. Girls in Super Troops experience the same activities as a traditional troop, and volunteers help out when they can. Juliettes are for girls who want to work individually with their parent or family member to earn badges and complete Girl Scout journeys.

“We are grateful to Horses4Heroes and Findlay Honda for providing this unique opportunity for local girls,” said Liz Ortenburger, CEO, Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “If a parent is interested in volunteering or signing their girl up for Girl Scouts, this is the perfect time to do it.”
