LAS VEGAS, NV – October 13, 2015 – Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada (GSSNV), a non-profit whose mission is to build courage, confidence and character in girls age 5 – 17 years-old, launched What did you do today?, a fall recruitment campaign to engage new volunteers and introduce more girls to scouting. GSSNV offers many programs and activities to help girls discover their values, connect them with others and take action to make a difference in the world.  Girls can earn badges for everything from first aid and camping, to financial literacy and STEM activities.

GSSNV offers three types of troop member options for volunteers and Girl Scouting:

Traditional Troop: 6 – 25 girls per troop
Volunteers create their own troop that meets and explores Girl Scout activities and opportunities to earn badges.

Supertroop: 60 – 100 girls per troop
Cooperative troops throughout the Las Vegas Valley, led by volunteers with the support of on-site Girl Scouts staff. Girls can have the same experience and activities as a traditional troop, and parents or family members volunteer when they can.

Juliettes: Individual Girl Scouting
Girls work individually with their parent or family member to earn badges and complete journeys on her own.

“We have options for every family’s busy schedule,” said Liz Ortenburger, CEO of Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “Whether you have 10 hours a month to volunteer, or two hours a month, we can find or create a troop to help your girl have the ultimate scouting experience.”

Girl Scouting prepares girls to be future leaders in business and public service. According to Girl Scouts of the United States of America, 80 percent of female entrepreneurs and 60 percent of current female senators are Girl Scout alumnae.
